I have happily graduated to the Pantone deck of pure colour. This has really simplified things for me! When I am out sourcing material for any type of project I now have one guaranteed match producing tool that is not muddied by any particular paint manufacturer’s undertone. When I want to mix a new shade for an abstract painting I can use my theory to get there when I can see the colour right in front of me. I have even used it when shopping for the right navy shoes to match my daughter’s prom dress.
With new decor clients this is the only colour tool I bring. I use it to measure their tolerance for new and different options, whittle down to the colours that speak to them and collect all of the other site information I need. Back in the studio I can easily pull together sample boards for presentation. The return visit and design proposal is always on point and complete, matched out the the client or contractor’s preferred paint manufacturer.
However, the best advantage has been in the development of our online training for Simply Colour Confident to accurately demonstrate the range of colours.
Pantone’s deck gives me the visual selection control I want and the exact coding for web based application as well as print specification. Keeps my whole team happy and talking the same shade of blue … or orange.
Wouldn't it be a good idea to create a course?
